Let’s Listen to Nature

First, we’ll listen to some sounds, and I’ll tell you what they are. Then, we’ll play a game to see if you can remember them. Let’s start!

Rain

Listen closely. Can you hear the rain? It’s like little drops tapping on the ground. Good job, Oofy!

Wind

Now, let’s hear the wind. It sounds like a gentle whoosh. Great listening, Oofy!

River

Next, we’ll hear a river. Can you hear the water flowing? It’s like a gentle splash. You’re doing great, Oofy!

Thunder

Don’t be afraid, Oofy. This is thunder. It sounds like a big boom in the sky. You’re so brave!

Birds Singing

Listen to the birds singing. It’s such a lovely sound, like a sweet melody. Awesome, Oofy!

Sea

Can you hear the sea? It sounds like waves crashing on the shore. Perfect listening, Oofy!

Wolf Howl

Finally, let’s hear a wolf howl. It’s a long, echoing sound. You’re doing amazing, Oofy!

Time to Play!

Now that we’ve listened to all the sounds, let’s play a game! I’ll play a sound, and you guess what it is. Say it out loud so Oofy can hear you!

Which sound is this? It’s rain! Well done!

And the next one? It’s wind! Way to go!

Can you guess the next sound? It’s a river! Right on!

Which sound is this? It’s thunder! You’re doing great!

  • What is your favorite sound from nature, and why do you like it? Can you think of a time when you heard it?
  • Have you ever been scared by a sound like Oofy? What was it, and how did you feel better?
  • If you could make a new sound for nature, what would it be? Can you try to make that sound with your voice or an object around you?
  1. Sound Hunt: Go on a nature walk with your family or friends and listen carefully to the sounds around you. Can you hear the wind, birds, or maybe even a river? Try to identify as many sounds as you can. When you get back, draw a picture of your favorite sound and share it with the class. What did you hear that was similar to Oofy’s adventure?

  2. Sound Imitation Game: Gather in a circle with your classmates. One person starts by making a sound from nature, like the sound of rain or a bird singing. The next person tries to guess the sound and then makes a new sound for others to guess. How many sounds can you remember from Oofy’s adventure?

  3. Create Your Own Nature Sound: Use simple materials like paper, sticks, or a small container of water to create your own nature sound. Can you make a sound that reminds you of the sea or the wind? Share your sound with the class and see if they can guess what it is. How does it compare to the sounds Oofy learned about?
