  2. How does buzzing like a bee make your body feel?
  3. Why is it nice to take deep breaths and relax?

Welcome to Mindfulness Fun!

Hello, little friends! Today, we are going to learn something super cool called bee breathing. Doesn’t that sound fun? Let’s get ready to buzz like bees!

Getting Ready

First, find a nice spot on the floor and sit down comfortably. Close your eyes and imagine you are a tiny bee flying in a beautiful forest. The sky is blue, and there are fluffy clouds like cotton candy.

Breathing Like a Bee

Now, let’s take a big breath in through our nose. Feel the air fill up your lungs. Then, breathe out slowly through your mouth. Let’s do it again: breathe in and breathe out. One more time: breathe in and breathe out. Keep your eyes closed, little bee!

Buzzing Time!

Now, put your fingers on your ears. Breathe in, and with your lips together, make a buzzing sound like a bee. Try buzzing loudly and then quietly. Feel your body vibrate like a bee’s wings!

Let’s Buzz Together

Let’s do this three more times: breathe in and buzz like a bee. What do you feel in your body when you buzz loudly? Try buzzing quietly now. How does that feel?

Let’s try again: breathe in and make a soft bee sound. Then, buzz a little louder. Feel how your body relaxes as you buzz. Isn’t it fun?

Time to Relax

Now, take your fingers off your ears, but keep your eyes closed. Let’s take one more deep breath together. Breathe in and breathe out slowly. Again, breathe in and breathe out slowly. Great job!

Open Your Eyes

Now, you can open your eyes and stand up slowly. How do you feel? When we focus on our breathing, it helps us feel calm and happy. Mindfulness helps us enjoy the moment and not worry about anything else.

  1. Bee Breathing Adventure: Go outside with a grown-up and find a quiet spot in a garden or park. Sit down comfortably and close your eyes. Imagine you are a bee flying from flower to flower. Take a deep breath in through your nose and buzz softly as you breathe out. Can you hear other sounds around you while you buzz? What do you feel in your body as you buzz in nature?

  2. Buzzing Art: Create a picture of a bee using crayons or markers. As you draw, practice your bee breathing. Breathe in deeply and buzz softly as you color. Notice how your hand moves as you buzz. Does buzzing help you focus on your drawing? Share your bee art with your friends or family and teach them how to do bee breathing too!

  3. Mindful Listening Game: With your eyes closed, have a friend or family member make different sounds, like clapping or tapping. After each sound, take a deep breath and buzz like a bee. Can you guess what the sound was? How does focusing on your breathing help you listen better? Try making sounds for your friend to guess while they practice bee breathing!

Welcome to Smile and Learn! Today, we are going to learn a mindfulness technique known as bee breathing. What a fun name, right? Listen carefully to all the following steps.

First, sit on the floor in a comfortable position. Close your eyes and imagine that you are a tiny bee buzzing through the forest. The sky is blue with little clouds that look like cotton.

Now, breathe in deeply, noting how the air enters your nose and fills your lungs. Then, breathe out through your mouth very slowly.

Let’s do that again: breathe in and breathe out. Once more, breathe in and breathe out. One last time: breathe in and breathe out. Remember to keep your eyes closed.

Now, cover your ears with your index fingers. Breathe in, and with your lips together, make a sound like a bee makes when it flies. Go between buzzing loudly and quietly, paying very close attention to the vibration of your body as you do it.

Repeat this three more times: breathe in and make the bee sound. What happens in your body when you increase the intensity of the sound? Try it again and focus on how you feel. Breathe in and make a loud bee sound. What happens when you buzz more quietly?

Let’s try: breathe in and make a soft bee sound. Repeat this process one more time, buzzing softly and then gradually getting louder. Feel how tension is released from all parts of your body and pay attention to how different intensities affect you.

Now, I’ll let you try it on your own for a minute.

[Pause]

Well done! Now you can take your fingers out of your ears, but don’t open your eyes yet. To finish, we’re going to take a deep breath together once again. Breathe in and breathe out slowly. Again, breathe in and breathe out slowly. Very good!

Now you can open your eyes and stand up slowly and carefully. How do you feel? When we focus on breathing, we don’t think about other things. This can help us to calm down and be present in the moment. Mindfulness allows us to train our minds to be in the here and now instead of thinking about the past or the future.
