How to Draw Santa Claus

Hi there! Today, we’re going to have lots of fun learning how to draw Santa Claus. Are you ready? Let’s get started!

What You Need

Before we begin, make sure you have some paper and crayons or colored pencils. You can use any colors you like, but red, white, and black are perfect for Santa!

Step 1: Draw Santa’s Head

First, let’s draw a big circle for Santa’s head. This will be his face. Now, add a smaller circle on top for his hat. Santa’s hat is pointy, so draw a triangle shape on top of the small circle.

Step 2: Santa’s Face

Now, let’s give Santa a happy face! Draw two small circles for his eyes. Add a little dot inside each circle for his pupils. Next, draw a big, round nose right in the middle of his face. Don’t forget to add a big smile under his nose!

Step 3: Santa’s Beard

Santa has a fluffy white beard. Draw a big, wavy line around his face to make his beard. It should look like a cloud!

Step 4: Santa’s Hat

Let’s finish Santa’s hat. Draw a fluffy ball at the tip of the triangle. This is the pom-pom on his hat. Then, draw a wavy line across the bottom of the hat to make it look soft and cozy.

Step 5: Santa’s Body

Now, let’s draw Santa’s body. Draw a big oval shape under his head for his tummy. Santa loves cookies, so make sure his tummy is nice and round!

Step 6: Santa’s Arms and Legs

Draw two long rectangles on each side of his body for his arms. Add little circles at the ends for his hands. For his legs, draw two shorter rectangles at the bottom of his tummy. Add little circles at the ends for his feet.

Step 7: Color Santa

Now it’s time to color Santa! Use red for his hat and suit. Color his beard and the fluffy parts of his hat white. Use black for his boots and belt. You can color his face peach or pink.

All Done!

Great job! You’ve drawn Santa Claus. Isn’t he jolly and fun? You can hang your drawing on the wall or give it to someone special. Keep practicing, and you’ll get even better at drawing!

Thanks for drawing with me today. See you next time!

  • What do you think Santa Claus would say if he saw your drawing? How do you think he would feel?
  • Can you think of other characters or people you would like to draw? What makes them special or interesting to you?
  • Have you ever given a drawing as a gift to someone? How did it make you feel, and how did the person react?
  1. Santa’s Outfit Exploration: Let’s explore different outfits for Santa! Imagine Santa visiting different places around the world. What would he wear if he went to the beach or the mountains? Draw Santa in a new outfit for each place. Use your imagination and think about the colors and patterns he might wear. Share your drawings with your friends and explain why you chose those outfits.

  2. Santa’s Helpers: Santa has many helpers, like elves and reindeer. Think about what they might look like and draw them next to your Santa drawing. What colors will you use for their clothes? What special features do they have? Talk about how these helpers assist Santa in preparing for Christmas.

  3. Santa’s Journey Observation: Next time you go for a walk or a drive, look around and imagine how Santa might travel through your neighborhood. Would he fly over the houses or land on the rooftops? Draw a picture of Santa’s sleigh flying over your town. Think about what he might see from up high and add those details to your drawing.
