Geography:

Cambodia is located in the southern portion of the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. It is bordered by Thailand to the northwest, Laos to the northeast, Vietnam to the east, and the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest.

Area: Approximately 181,035 square kilometers (approximately 69,898 square miles).

Population: Approximately 17 million people (as of 2023 estimate).

Language: The official language is Khmer.

Climate:

Cambodia has a tropical monsoon climate with two distinct seasons: a rainy, monsoon season from May to October, and a dry season from November to April.

Economy:

Although rapidly improving, Cambodia’s economy is one of the least developed in Asia. It’s largely agrarian with rice, rubber, and fish being the primary outputs. The service sector is heavily concentrated in trading activities and catering-related services.

Government:

Cambodia is a constitutional monarchy, which means the King is the head of state. The country is also a unitary dominant-party parliamentary constitutional monarchy, with the Prime Minister as the head of government.

Education:

Education in Cambodia is controlled by the state and is offered free of charge at all levels. However, access to education, particularly in rural areas, remains a challenge.

Culture:

The culture of Cambodia has had a rich and varied history dating back many centuries, and has been heavily influenced by India and China. The country is known for its ancient temples, including the famous Angkor Wat, traditional dance and music, and its French-influenced cuisine.

Cambodia is home to Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. The country has a tragic recent history, having suffered under the brutal Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s.
