Geography:

Brazil is the largest country in both South America and Latin America. It is bordered by all South American countries except Chile and Ecuador. Brazil’s landscape is diverse, featuring hills, mountains, plains, highlands, scrublands, savannas, rainforests, and a long coastline along the Atlantic Ocean.

Area: Approximately 8.5 million square kilometers (approximately 3.2 million square miles).

Population: Approximately 213 million people (as of 2023 estimate).

Language: The official language is Portuguese.

Climate:

Brazil’s climate has a wide range, from tropical in the north (equatorial) to temperate zones below the Tropic of Capricorn (23°26′ S latitude), which crosses the country at the latitude of the city of São Paulo.

Economy:

Brazil has a mixed economy with abundant natural resources. It has been the world’s largest producer of coffee for the last 150 years. The country’s diverse industries include automobiles, steel, petrochemicals, computers, aircraft, and consumer durables.

Government:

Brazil is a federal republic, composed of the union of the Federal District, the 26 states, and the 5,570 municipalities. The President serves as both head of state and head of government.

Education:

Education in Brazil is regulated by the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Education, which defines the guiding principles for the organization of education programs. Education is compulsory over an age range starting between 6 and 7 and ending somewhere between 14 and 17.

Culture:

Brazil’s culture is a melting pot resulting from a mix of influences, including its indigenous peoples, Portuguese colonists, immigrants from Europe and Africa, and its neighboring Latin American nations. The country is known for its music (such as samba and bossa nova), cuisine, dance (like the energetic samba dance), and massive celebrations like Carnival.
