Anna and Her New Baby Brother

Hello, I’m Monchi! Today is a very special day for my family. Do you want to know why? Let’s find out together!

A Special Surprise

Guess what, kids? You’re going to have a baby brother! Isn’t that exciting? You can even feel him moving in my belly. Put your hands here!

“Wow, Mom! The baby is kicking like a soccer player!”

Our family is getting bigger, and soon Anna and David will have a new brother to play with. When the baby comes home, we’ll have lots of fun together!

Meeting the Baby

The baby is finally here! We went to the hospital to meet him for the first time. Do you want to know what he looks like?

“Mom, he’s so tiny! He looks like a little doll.”

“Why does he sleep so much? Is he tired?”

When you were born, you were just as small and sleepy. Babies eat and sleep a lot, but they’ll be awake more as they grow.

“Uh-oh, I smell something stinky! I think the baby needs a diaper change!”

That’s right! Babies usually need a diaper change after they eat. Would you like to help me change his diaper?

A Fun Day at the Park

It’s a sunny Sunday, and we’re going for a walk in the park. Do you want to see how much fun we have? Come join us!

“Mom, can I push the stroller a little?”

“Sure! Just lift the brake and push slowly so the baby can keep sleeping.”

“Dad, look at the swings! Can we put the baby on one?”

“Anna, your brother is still too little for swings, but soon you’ll be able to play lots of games with him!”

  • Have you ever met a new baby in your family or among your friends? What was it like, and how did you feel when you first saw them?
  • What are some things you think you could do to help take care of a new baby? Can you think of any fun activities you might do with them when they get a little older?
  • Imagine you have a new baby brother or sister. What would you like to teach them when they grow up a little? Why do you think that would be fun or important?
  1. Baby Observation Journal: Create a simple journal with your child to observe and record the baby’s activities. Each day, ask your child to note down or draw what they see the baby doing. Is the baby sleeping, eating, or making funny faces? This activity helps children understand the daily routine of a baby and encourages them to notice changes over time.

  2. Role-Playing with Dolls: Use dolls or stuffed animals to role-play taking care of a baby. Encourage your child to pretend to feed, change diapers, and put the baby to sleep. Ask questions like, “What do you think the baby needs now?” or “How can you help the baby feel better?” This hands-on activity helps children empathize with the responsibilities of caring for a baby.

  3. Family Tree Craft: Create a family tree using craft materials. Help your child draw or paste pictures of family members on a large sheet of paper. Discuss each person’s role in the family and how they contribute to making the family special. Ask your child, “Who is in your family?” and “What do you like doing with them?” This activity encourages children to appreciate their family dynamics and relationships.

Do you want to know what Anna and David’s new baby brother looks like?

Go ahead!

Mom, he’s so small! He looks like a doll.

Why does he sleep so much? Is he tired?

You were as small as him when you were born, and you spent all day eating and sleeping. He’ll be awake more as he grows.

Can’t you smell something? Yikes, I think the baby has just pooped!

Sure thing, he’s just eaten. Babies usually poop after eating.

Kids, would you help me change his diaper?

They’re finally here! I hope the baby won’t be scared to see me. I can’t wait to play with him.

[Music]

It’s Sunday, and the weather is nice. We’re all going for a walk in the park. Do you want to see how we have fun? Come join us!

[Music]

Mom, can I push the stroller a little?

Sure! Lift off the brake latch and push slowly so you won’t wake the baby.

Dad, look over there! Swings! What if we sat the baby on one of them?

Anna, your brother is still very little, but in a few months, you’ll be able to play many things with him. You’ll see!

[Music]

There is nothing like having a big family. It’s true you have to share, but everything is more fun, don’t you think?

So, how many are you in your family?
